CONFERENCE (SUMMARY) – WEDNESDAY 9TH Sept’
Pablo Chufeni, International Youth Coordinator presented his report, including recommendations for the future of '?outh in Servas'. The GA accepted his, the Youth Development officer & Youth Travel Award Report's.

After coffee we broke into the previous days 8 working groups to prepare motions according Agenda for GA presentation. There was much going back and forth as groups consulted with each other until we broke at 1pm for lunch.

In the afternoon EXCO elections took place. Results of the individual closed secret ballots were as follows:-
President (re-elected): Gary Sealey (Canada)
Vice-President: Pramod Kumar (India) ?Treasurer: Mirek Wasilewski (Poland)
Peace Secretary: Kim Jong Soo (South Korea) ?General Secretary: Penny Pattison
Host List Coordinator: Pablo Colangelo (Argentina)

After coffee ?the following motions were presented, ? deliberated and passed:
1. Pramod Kumar, on behalf of the Processes Working Group:
In order to retain its voting rights at the GA, a member country must have 1) published a host list not older than two years and 2) must have submitted an annual report for at least one of the two previous years. To take effect at the next GA.

A list of countries eligible to vote could be announced prior to the GA.
Publication can be in Dolphin or by sending a copy to all national secretaries who have requested it or sent to the Host List Coordinator.

2: A group is to recommend revised stamp fees by December 31, 2009. 5 persons including treasurers and people from small and large Servas countries will serve on the committee and US $100 will be provided for the groups communication expenses. If the revision is not approved the current fees will stay in effect.

3: Nominations for election at the next GA be may be accepted right up to before the start of the actual voting.

4: Discussion on ways Servas could help small national groups to grow and flourish, in the next 10 years.
Use buddies, mentors and travelling ambassadors, to further the Servas concepts of peace and development in small/new countries and small communities.
Revise the Servas handbook to make it more user-friendly for small and new Servas groups.
To encourage individuals and families to meet in order to help Servas set up and grow in past and present conflict areas. This will help promote peace in these more challenging areas.
To give voice to small/new countries by encouraging them to participate at the GA.
To use the ideas and practical suggestions in the intelligent roadmap to help the development and growth of small/new countries in Servas.
To put in place systems and processes to ensure that small/new countries are more actively involved in the Servas spirit.
A US$500 annual budget may be necessary to support members in their role as mentors, buddies and ambassadors.
To promote these roles by adding a few sentences to the letter of introduction form.
Responsibility for making this happen is with the Development Committee (formerly Development Fund Committee), Peace Secretary and Vice-president.

Sept 8th At least 10 people were killed & others injured when a powerful tornado hit an area in the N.E. Argentina – Misiones early Tuesday. It was something never seen before, heavy rains continue.
