CONFERENCE (SUMMARY) – THURSDAY 10TH Sept’

The following motions were passed (as drawn up by the various working groups):-
•To develop an Action Plan that promotes Servas values including tolerance, open mindedness, building friendship, peace, & nonviolence;*
•To set goals and a content for a Servas course to train Servas hosts, travelers, and officers to become peace advocates; *Responsibility = Peace Secretary.
•Servas National Groups to develop strategies and action plans for Servas out reach and cooperation with other organizations with similar values and goals.
•In lieu of the printed SI News all national secretaries/teams/boards to be e-mailed a .pdf version and a link to the online version of the annual SI News, and also to be mailed a disk copy if required. National groups to be asked to forward this to all their hosts and travelers in electronic or print versions as appropriate.
•Small grants of $200 US for new and existing countries, managed by the DC.
•The Distant Voting process shall operate by sending the motions and the voting information to the National Secretary of each member group who shall ensure the Distant Vote is sent in for counting.
• “Each member group shall decide itself who will cast the distant vote on their behalf and how the group will determine if the vote on each motion is to be, ‘for’, ‘against’ or ‘abstain’”
•The Distant Vote Administrator shall facilitate informed discussion of items to be decided by distant vote.
•The Development Committee should be empowered to provide grants for meetings with specific purposes in line with Servas ideals, such as meetings proposing peace between two countries.
•SI host list coordinator will set up a host list testing system together with a team to ensure reliability, beginning in Jan´ 2010, according to Servas working group guidelines.
•The GA approves and accepts the presented action plan for the period 2010/2011/2012 as a framework for Servas Youth activities. - Motion carries.
•There was an extended discussion by Gary Sealey and Pramod Kumar regarding the two groups in Nepal. Suggestions for next steps are welcome.
Election of Committee members
• A Servas Online program shall be developed and implemented by the end of 2011. This program shall be evaluated at the next GA.

We are doing to publish a ? book, "Servas World; the Peace Builders" stories of 60 years. The contents will be our servas experiences. I need your stories 1 or 2 pages, which may include a photo. I am also requesting for Editors, Reviewers, proof readers, translators and everyone who has experience in publishing books. TURKEY: Devastating rains swept cars into the sea & over 30 people were lost after 2 days of torrential rain transportation and intercity trains were blocked.

Argentinean Organisation Team: Thank you very much for organising a dancing 'free the body' session last night. I believe we all needed to refresh ourselves following productive but long meetings. Its was fun, young and not so young seemed to be dancing away madly... P D (Pinar DURMAZ)

Servas South East Asia (SEA) will hold its regional meeting in May 2010 in Thailand. In conjunction with the Servas SEA meeting, our youth group will hold a regional meeting in Thailand at the same time. All youth members & those young at heart, are invited to attend the event!

| In addition we are holding a photography contest with the theme YOUTH, PEACE & FRIENDSHIP": open to youth of SEA member countries. Each member country shall select ONE winner. The winner is invited to attend the SEA meeting , so let´s see you in Thailand in May 2010! |

We are 3 young girls studying international Relations. For us, participating as one of the Rosario Team was one of the most important experiences in our personal + professional life. Being involved in Servas now will be part of our future! Being part of Servas Youth has also created the perfect international learning environment for us through Servas's promotion of tolerance and peace. We want to say that due to:- the hard work and positive attitude of Pablo Chufeni we now see how Servas International is evolving + how to look at life. Maybe in our world with all its pressure we forget the need to share life with others. No matter if you are 20, 50 or 80 years old. The real youth is in the spirit of the person and not in the ID.
