CONFERENCE (SUMMARY) – MONDAY 7TH Sept’ (Recorders – Sylvia Krogh; Dary Chinn; Phyllis Chinn)
The GA accepted reports from the following position holders:-
President – Gary Sealey.
Vice President – Mary Jane Mikuriya.
General Secretary - Pramod Kumar;
Peace Secretary – Nandasena Amarasinghe;
Treasurer – LV Subramanian;
Host List Co-ordinary – Anne Flammini;
Audit Committee –
Mireslav Wasilewski, chair. - Rita Torsvik - Florencio Gomez.

The Treasurer LV Subramanian introduced the general idea of a “budget”
and explained how the accounts had been pulled together and brought up to date.
The membership Report was put off until tomorrow.

The moderators reminded the GA that acceptance of a report DOES NOT mean
acceptance of any recommendations. The floor decided to discuss these later.

Before dinner, the GA broke into 8 subject working groups, which were:-
1. Budget; 2. Processes; 3. Future of Servas (vision); 4. Hosts & Travellers;
5. Youth; 6. Statutes; 7. Technology; 8. Distant Voting;

We then broke for 7:30pm dinner.
EVENING: A presentation video on the history and role of “First Nations”.

Una Mirada hacio la Paz olhan para a paz.
As part of Servas 60th Anniversary, Servas Brazil (through its Peace Secretary) organised a National photographic competition named: ´Think Peace´ . This stimulated Brazilian members to reveal how they thought ´peace´ might be translated through images according to their different points of view. 12 pictures were selected as the winners.
These picutres are Brazils contribution to Servas´s the 60th Anniversary. A big “congratulations” to everyone who took part. People at this assembly do please take a look at the winning photos, displayed up near our BRAZIL sign in the main conference room.´ says Maria Fernanda Peace secretary. Alvany Santiago – Brazil.

We as Servas Country Representatives are so happy to be here sharing love and peace and building bridges between countries. We hope that time can be set aside during the GA for National Secretaries or Country Representatives to sit together and share ideas and learn from each other about how Servas is in different counties – projects, host lists, registering travellers, co-ordination, etc.
